For as long as most can remember, Neshaminy and Pennsbury have been rival schools. Dating back to 1930, Neshaminy carried their first win against Pennsbury. Since that time, the team has maintained 39 wins, 39 losses, and seven ties against Pennsbury’s football team. With a 10-0 record this season, Neshaminy had high hopes towards beating Pennsbury on their senior night Oct. 28 and receiving the Suburban One League (SOL) title.

Despite their 5-5 record, Pennsbury students seemed to have hopes just as high. “Everyone better be at the sad excuse of a stadium at Neshaminy Friday night to see Pennsbury ruin their joke of a perfect season,” boasted @pennsburypride on Twitter just five days before the big game.

Unfortunately for Pennsbury, Neshaminy shut them out with a score of 35-0, matching the highest point gap Neshaminy has ever maintained against Pennsbury. The only other times this occurred was in 1988 and 2004.

“In a way, there was really no pressure to beat Pennsbury. We were in the playoffs and were guaranteed a home game.  Winning was more for the pride of our football team and our school,” Neshaminy head coach Steven Wilmot said.

After the Pennsbury game, Neshaminy followed with another win against Pennridge 26-21 the next week in their first postseason game, boosting their record to 11-0. The following game against Garnet Valley was a 14-42 loss, finishing their playoff run.
