Homecoming parade, senior jeans, a competitive game, Homecoming royalty, and great victory by the Neshaminy Skins Football Team. Name a better Friday night under the lights.

During eighth period on the day of Homecoming, NHS administration announced that the usual Homecoming carnival that occurs before and during the game was postponed due to weather. This unfortunate news, however, did not stop the night of fun. The night started with the Homecoming Court riding on golf carts around the track of the Harry E. Franks stadium. The nominees waved to the crowd as their achievements and involvements were announced on the speakers. The couples in the running were Ryan Jacobson and Morgan Shaltens, Kate Ewing and Ryan Yedman, Jake Delaney and Dakota Yates, Marcos Lopez and Keyerra Dale, and Natalia Maldonado and Victor Corsino.

The Pennridge Rams and Neshaminy Skins ran onto Heartbreak Ridge prepared to fight for a win. The Skins were able to strike first, scoring a six -yard touchdown caught by Connor Frederick. With a succcessful kick, they led by seven points in the first quarter. The Rams tied up the game in the second quarter on 50-yard touchdown that happened on a screen pass.

During halftime, the Neshaminy Marching Band put on an incredible performance before the Homecoming King and Queen were announced.

Every couple waited patiently on the field, waiting in anticipation to learn who was going to be crowned. Ewing and Yedman rejoiced as they heard their names announced, earning their crowns and their sashes.

The only scoring points in the third and fourth quarter were a 1-yard touchdown from senior running back Travis Lavelah. The final score of the game was 17-7 in the Skins’ favor.

Homecoming football games are a long-standing tradition, and a victorious ending helps validate why Homecoming is loved so much at NHS and beyond.
