Keys for successful Halloween

Halloween, next to Christmas, is one of the most fun holidays that children celebrate. Though the concept of Halloween is internally dark, children still have fun trick or treating. Before anyone can go out there are a few things parents should keep in mind.

Costumes; everyone loves to dress up and go out to get candy, but make sure what is being worn is not only appropriate for the weather but safe. “Make sure your child’s costume is loose enough for warm clothing to be worn underneath,” said a staff member of Mayo Clinic. This year it is supposed to be cold. Make sure the little ones are all bundled up. “But not long enough to cause tripping,” staff said regarding length and shoe wear when deciding on costumes.

Candy; who doesn’t love candy? Sorry to break the news, but not all candy is safe for children. “Be sure to throw away any candy that is not in its original wrapper,” said Reader’s Digest. This is one of their seven trick or treating safety tips that are useful for any parent and child getting ready for the big night. Be sure to not eat the already opened candy; one never knows what people did with it.
