Bieber: Teen star gone wild

By Jess McClelland

Justin Bieber started out signing autographs, singing “One Time” and adoring his fans, to spitting on them and getting a D.U.I. There is no doubt that Bieber is no longer the 13-year-old boy from Canada but a 19-year-old train wreck in society.

Everyone knows of Bieber: whether it is of his fame or his infamy. He became a worldwide sensation over-night, with the help of his manager, Scooter Braun. Over the last few years his fame seems to have been getting to his head, leaving him no longer a worthy role model to the millions of fans that admire him.

Bieber’s downfall started in 2012 when he started cursing out paparazzi and flipping them off. He had his first problem with the cops that same year due to speeding at 100 MPH. Then coming back from a night club, he hit the paparazzi with his white Lamborghini. He was cleared of all charges a month later.

Speeding and having difficulties with the paparazzi was nothing compared to him in January of 2013. Justin was caught smoking marijuana with his friend Lil’ Twist. Although he was not arrested for drugs, the act was still considered criminal. The next month, he appeared on Saturday Night Live, where he played himself and apologized for his mistake during a skit. “I also heard he got busted for smoking weed. And he’s really sorry about it. And people make mistakes. And he’s never going to do it again,” Bieber said in the sketch. His apology seemed sincere, but he still made more mistakes.

Within 2013, the year seemed to be his major downfall. He peed in a bucket in a restaurant in New York City, flipped off Bill Clinton, disrespected Anne Frank by saying she “would have been a Belieber” (Justin’s fan base name), had drugs on his tour bus, spit on his fans that were outside his hotel and spray-painted graffiti on walls.

His mother, Pattie Mallette, thinks his actions are just a part of him growing up. “You know, once they turn 18, 19, and they move away from home and they start making their own decisions… The parenting style changes and you hope to still be a voice in their ear and you,” Mallette said to the people of Fox & Friends in an interview.

As if Bieber couldn’t get in any more trouble – in Miami on Jan. 23, he was arrested for D.U.I., expired license, resisting arrest, and drag racing. Justin admitted to have consumed alcohol, smoked marijuana, and taken prescription pills. Bieber was then smiling in his mug shot, and ended up getting off with a bail of only $2,500.

“I think that he is a bad influence. Kids look up to him and he got away with a D.U.I. so now they think it is okay to do it,” sophomore Brittnee Hughes, said. “Plus he could have killed someone and no one seems to care.”

Beliebers all thought it was okay that he could have run someone over. The rest of the week, hashtags along the lines of “#WeWillAlwaysSupportYouJustin” were trending worldwide on Twitter. To everyone’s amusement, except his fan base, the tag “#DeportBieber” was also on top, trending worldwide also for days on end.

Justin is on a work visa for the U.S. because he was born in Canada. Anyone else who is on a work visa would have been deported for getting a D.U.I.

Bieber isn’t just a kid anymore and he knows exactly what he’s doing. He shouldn’t get away with the majority of the things he does – especially now that he got away with drunk driving, he needs to be treated like how anyone else would have been.

Bieber is not in any way a good role model, like how he used to be, and he should have to pay more than $2,500 for being a jerk.
