Disney’s “Frozen” to be on Broadway

The most recent animated motion picture to touch the hearts of millions, Disney’s “Frozen” has been immensely successful in its box- office and merchandize sales. On account of its accomplishments, it has been confirmed that the show will hit the Broadway stage in the near future.

Earning well over $669 million in global box office sales, the movie had nearly beat out every other animated picture by Disney, with the exception of “The Lion King,” which had made $987.5 million. The film won a golden globe on Jan. 12 for best motion picture as well.

The soundtrack, featuring the voices of broadway legend Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell was ranked number one on the billboard two hundred chart just a week ago. This was the first time that an animated Disney picture soundtrack had reached number one since the Pocahontas soundtrack in 1995.

There have been no confident decisions on the time frame of the development of the musical or its creative team, though CEO and chairman Bob Iger expresses that a well-respected Disney show must be expanded before it becomes a classic.

“”We’re not demanding speed. We’re demanding excellence,” Iger said in an interview with Fortune.
Several rumors have been swirling over further expansions to the “Frozen” franchise. Disney fans claim that the classic Maelstrom ride in the Norway Pavilion of Epcot will be restored to make way for something a bit cooler, though these assertions have not yet been confirmed or denied officially.
