Michael Clarke Duncan dies at 54

The entertaining voice of the Javan rhino from Kung Fu Panda, Michael Clarke Duncan passed away on Sept. 3. The famous American actor, which was best known for his role as John Coffey in “The Green Mile”, suffered from a heart attack about 3 weeks prior to his death.
The 54 year old was officially announced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles wrote the Los Angeles Times. According to TMZ who retrieved his death certificate, Duncan died due to respiratory failure.
After his heart attack on July 13, 2012, he never fully recovered. On Sept.10 Tom Hanks, Stevie Wonder, Holly Robinson Peete and Jay Leno were amongst the celebrities that arrived to celebrate the life of Michael for a nearly four hour memorial service at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park and Mortuaries in Los Angeles.
CBS News noted that “Hanks and Leno shared stories about “The Green Mile” star and Peete talked about meeting Duncan while he was still a celebrity bodyguard”. At the funeral he was referred to as the “gentle giant” and Leno spoke about Clarke’s positivity and lack of cynicism.

Michael’s mother, sister and nephews, along with his fiancé Omarosa O. Manigault, also attended this memorial service. Our own Neshaminy high school students had an honest and sad opinion about the actor’s death. “I remember watching “The Green Mile”, my favorite character was John. He was just such an amazing actor that he brought tears to my eyes”, sophomore Angela Sanson commented.
Daily News witnessed the Rev. Dr. H. Beecher Hicks closing this ceremony by saying “Don’t fret, he’s in heaven.”
