On Nov. 1 the Pennsbury Falcons defeated the undefeated Neshaminy football squad 31 to 3. This devastating game brought Neshaminy its first and only loss of the regular season. Pennsbury did not waste time Friday night, intercepting a pass from senior Quarterback Tyler Wombough on Neshaminy’s first possession, which was consequently run in for a touchdown.
Neshaminy managed to score their only points on the board through a field goal in the middle of the first quarter. The first quarter of play proved to be uneventful. It was clear that Neshaminy had met its match. Running back D’Andre Pollard was being kept to the line of scrimmage, while Pollard managed to rack up 147 yards throughout the course of the game Pollard’s runs were short yardage gains.
The first quarter ended with Pennsbury on top 7 to 3. The second quarter started with Pennsbury on Neshaminy’s 35 yard line; the Falcons would be stuck in the red zone on fourth down, missing a field goal giving Neshaminy a glint of hope. However, the second quarter proved to be just as, if not more, disappointing for head coach Mark Schmidt and the Neshaminy offense.
“Pennsbury came out tonight and just beat us, they were the better team tonight,” senior and Captain Luke Carrezola said. Pennsbury, in the second quarter, managed to put ten more points on the scoreboard with a touchdown and field goal. Neshaminy incurred three penalties during the second quarter and turned the ball over on downs in a failed fourth down conversion attempt.
Wombough would pass for only 31 yards the whole game, and junior receiver Hamiid Pack ended the game with 31 receiving yards. Wombough received Pennsbury pressure the whole game. He turned over the ball, had incomplete passes, failed rush attempts and on several occasions Wombough had to throw the ball away to avoid a major loss.
At the end of the half the score was Pennsbury 17, Neshaminy 3. Coming out, Pennsbury Falcons exuded confidence, which would show in the second half of the game. The third and fourth quarters would be riddled with the same mistakes Neshaminy had been making all game. Not only was Neshaminy kept from scoring, but Pennsbury would score two more touchdowns before the longest game of Neshaminy’s regular season was over.
“This was a great win for the boys, they really came out and played their hearts out tonight,” Pennsbury head coach Galen Snyder said. Not only was it a great win, but Pennsbury’s ninth consecutive win, the longest winning streak in the Suburban One League National division.
“We didn’t start off well, we didn’t finish well, the defense was put in a bad spot early on in the game and Pennsbury played a great game and our offense wasn’t able to recover,” Neshaminy head coach Mark Schmidt said.
The game ended 31 to 3, the largest margin and only loss of the season for Neshaminy. However, Neshaminy will move to the playoffs regardless facing off against Unionville at home on Nov. 8.

Redskins is the description of Native American scalps to be collected for money.
You can say it’s a tradition all you want but remember; Ch*nks, n*ggers, etc were all racial slurs that had a long history of use.
It’s not just political correctness, but it’s also about stopping the perpetuation of ignorance.

Decades of Pride and no “slur” what so ever, will not be erased. The president of the Board of Ed and the principal are in agreement and the princial is a NHS grad. I suggest you look at your screen name and grow up a little and not listen to ONE person who is just a trouble maker. Good luck to you. Examine the true facts and be mature.

The president of the board of ed is a political hack. Where has the principal of NHS declared his stance? What’s wrong with my screen name? Oh, and btw, I don’t ever listen to one person. I listen to my conscience.

Principal has posted MANY times in support of Redskins name on FB. Look up the meaning of your name, you’ll see….In my opinion, After speaking to the B of Ed president in person, one on one, on many issues, I have seen his sincerity for the benefit ot the children…no political hack. We are lucky to have him.

So the principal has stated many times that he is in support of using a racial slur? I’ve looked up the term, the origin of Redneck was used to describe farmers and outdoor laborers.

No, the principal has shown support for the name that has been around for decades as a sign of pride. It seems to me you are just looking for a controversy here, so I am done with this. Good luck to you.

I am a graduate of Neshaminy, a former valedictorian, a lawyer, and a PhD in the social sciences. Opposition to the use of the term Redskin is not the work of a single, juvenile troublemaker. Your attempt to characterize it as such is reminiscent of former Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak’s labeling his political opponents, who gained military backing and overthrew him, as uninformed children. You are trying to discredit those who disagree with you by associating them with youthful and irresponsible deviance, not a serious position on an important topic.
There is a nationwide movement to promote racial and ethnic sensitivity and redress past harms against repressed minorities. People of all ages, races, ethnic backgrounds, and socio-economic classes support this movement. There is widespread agreement among linguists and other experts on the matter that “Redskin” is derogatory and references a history of genocide against Native Americans. If you are unaware of the numerous publications taking this position, I can provide you with references.
I love my school so much that I do not want it associated with racial/ethnic discrimination and mass violence. I am proud of the Playwickian editors for taking a stance on this, and I hope they continue to take the higher ground on this matter.

The Pennsbury Falcons and the Neshaminy Redskins…show you PRIDE Playwickian. Newspapers are supposed to report fact and not take sides.
Redneck • Nov 8, 2013 at 4:49 pm
Joanne, this reporter did report fact (sic). Furthermore, I believe the Playwickian is doing exactly as you suggest, they are showing pride by NOT using a racial slur. Is Neshaminy pride really limited to a word? Come on now!
