Junior David Moffitt currently holds the seconds highest overall and league average on the Neshaminy Bowling team, directly behind senior, Captain AJ Wolstenholme. On Jan. 23 Moffitt against Bensalem he bowled a total 725.
Now in his third year of being on the varsity bowling team Moffitt has gone from a fresh faced freshman to a major part of the team. With an overall average of 211.2 and a league average of 214 Moffitt is a central part of the team, and will be a leading figure in his senior year.
“He brings a quiet confidence to the team that I think everyone else feeds off of,” Bowling team head coach and World Language teacher at the high school Mark Dunfee said.
“I love the game, the competition of it all and I feel that if I don’t practice then I don’t deserve to play,” Moffitt said.
Moffitt’s game certainly reflects his hard working attitude and dedication to the game. Specifically, in the Snow Roller Classic on Jan. 20 in Maple Shade, New Jersey, Moffitt bowled a perfect 300 game. Neshaminy would finish fourth overall by the end of the Snow Roller Classic.
“His 300 game and his high average are a testament to how much work and study he’s done,” Dunfee said.
The Neshaminy bowling team has had a strong year, with a solid lineup the suburban one league championship title is not out of their reach. “This was a strong year for the team but we still have lot of work to do, while are chances are good for this year, I definitely think that next year we will be SOL Champs,” Moffit said.
Currently, the bowling team’s league record is 26 wins and 10 losses, a formidable record that will earn them a high seed should they maintain their current win to loss ratio. Moffitt has been pleased with his and the team’s performance this year. Remaining focused, Moffitt’s performance has been outstanding this year.
“He does a great job studying the game and keeping track of everything that he does so that he can continue improving,” Dunfee said.
The key to the game, for Moffitt, is being able to focus.“I think about the lane conditions, what ball I’m going to use, and lastly where I should stand and where I place the ball,” Moffitt said.
This year, so far, has been quite successful for the Neshaminy bowling squad. Personally, Moffit is happy with his performance and hopes to advance far into the SOL tournament on Feb. 13.
