Lauren Quense has been a force on the mound for the ‘Skins all season. With dominating performances throughout the season, she finished with a record of 18-1, the same record the team finished with.
Quense’s durability and versatility throughout the season has made her one of the best pitchers and players in the area. “Lauren Quense is the fiercest, most hard working, player that I have ever coached. It has been my pleasure to be her coach these last 3 years,” Head Coach Dave Chichilitti said.
Statistically, Quense is having a tremendous season, both on the mound and at the plate. Holding a 1.25 era, .699 WHIP and over 200 strikeouts on the year, Quense has dominated opponents. She finished the regular season with 10 shutouts and four no-hitters.
At the plate, Quense is batting .444 with 17 RBIs and seven homeruns in the regular season. However well she is performing, she maintains focus on the team, “Lauren is not focused on things like that. She is focused on team accomplishments and wants to leave Neshaminy by winning her last game,” Chichilitti said.
Recently, Quense earned career strikeout 400 as a Redskin. Quense was unaware of her achievement during the game, until Chichilitti took a time out and told her. “I honestly had no idea. It was really cool though,” Quense said.
Much like any other athlete, Quense attributes her successes to many, “I owe a lot of my success to my pitching coach Roy jenderko, my hitting coach Larry Robtison, all of my travel coaches, my school coaches, & my family & friends,” Quense said.
As for the team, she owes their successes to their relationship, “The key to our success is how close we are & how much everyone loves to play the sport! We all play for each other,” Quense continued.
This fall, Quense will take her talents to Fordham University and will look to make an impact on the team as soon as possible. “I’m so excited to learn more about the sport! I also can’t wait to play with such awesome teammates & coaches,” Quense said on her future.
