The Neshaminy Girls varsity lacrosse team is nearing the end to a disappointing season. With an overall record of three wins and nine losses, and a conference record of no wins and six losses the Lady ‘Skins are out of the playoff race.
In her first season as head coach, and the teams fourth head coach in as many years, Ashley Belmonte has already made improvements in the team from last year. But the team’s growing pains and struggles have shown up a lot this year as the Lady ‘Skins were beaten by 10 or more goals seven times this season so far.
There have been a couple bright spots to the year so far for Neshaminy this year. Even though they will not make the postseason the Lady ‘Skins were able to increase they’re win total from last year when they were only able to win two games.
Another bright spot is that senior Malloree Mason is going to play lacrosse at the next level in college. Mason will play the attack position at East Stroudsburg University next year. “It was good to beat last year’s record and become a family in the end,” Mason said.
With a couple more games left this year it is important for the Lady ‘Skins to play strongly and build momentum for the next season. With a head coach who knows the game it’s only a matter of time before Neshaminy becomes a major contender in the National Conference.
Even though this year has been a disappointment record wise theirs a lot of reasons to be optimistic about girl’s lacrosse at Neshaminy. With some more experience and hard work the girls returning next year could make more of an improvement than the ones this year did.
