On Wed. Oct. 22, Neshaminy Dance Team held its first Dance Showcase, entitled So You Think Neshaminy Can Dance. The show was a venue in which members of the community could all come and share their love of dance.
The show case brought dancers together, competitors cheering for each other and almost forgetting that it was even a competition at all.
“It was a great opportunity for the team and student body to show off their dancing skills,” dance team adviser, Melissa Bauerle said.
The proceeds went to support the Dance Team’s fund for their upcoming trip to Florida to perform at the Macy’s Day Parade at Universal Studios and the Russell Athletic Bowl in December of this year.
The performance started at 7 P.M., and the dancers brought all they had. From ballet to jazz to hip hop, the audience experienced a variety of dance styles.
“It was fun to see kids still enjoying dancing these days. I loved everyone’s creativity the most,” Melissa Arrendell, judge and Neshaminy alum, said.
A special treat for the audience was watching dance moms, educators and alumni alike shaking it to current hits like Anaconda and #Selfie.
The winners, Kahlil Simpson and Caleb Reyes, performed a jaw-dropping hip hop routine that had the audience screaming.
The real winners, however, are the members of the Neshaminy Dance Team who made over 500 dollars from the show case.
Overall the show was a success, a great start to another year of performances at Neshaminy.
