Did you catch me at Summer Stock?

Gauri Mangala

The cast of Neshaminy Summer Stock performed “Catch me if you can” this past summer.

Over the summer, Neshaminy High School put on a production of “Catch Me If You Can.”  “Catch Me” is a musical about con artist Frank Abagnale Jr. and his life as he runs from the law. In his first year of Summer Stock, senior Billy Kraft took on one of the lead roles as Officer Hanratty.  The Playwickian asked Kraft a few questions about what it was like being in the show.

Q:    The audience loved “Catch Me If You Can” this summer. Did you?

A:    “Catch Me” in itself was a musical that I enjoyed from beginning to end along with every scene and song in between!

Q:     What was so great about Summer Stock, in comparison to regular school productions?

A:     I would have to say it all comes down to the atmosphere of it. Sure, every musical I’ve done, I’ve been around friends. However, Summer Stock is an optional theater experience and therefore only those who have a true passion for theater tend to gravitate towards it. This is why the atmosphere is so enjoyable; you’re surrounded by people who enjoy theater and want to be there!

Q:    What was it like playing Officer Hanratty?

A:    In the beginning I was a little skeptical about the part because Hanratty was such an energetic role along with being an old man. This skepticism disappeared as I rehearsed and blocked each scene, becoming more familiar with the show and character. It was with this that I discovered who the character was, and it was just the physicality of the role that I enjoyed the most!
