Fallout 4 Review
“War, war never changes,” these are one of the most iconic words in video game history. These words belong to one of video games most successful and famous franchises; the Fallout series, and with the new game coming out I will give my review over the new installment in the series and sees if it stands up to the previous games.
The game features many missions and the main story is very interesting and engaging. The storyline is very complex and when you think one thing is going to happen the exact opposite happens. As you progress through the game you became more attached to the characters and able to relate to their goals and motivations, which makes them more humane even if they’re ghoul or super mutants. The new combat system is clean and efficient and the new addition to VATS in which targets move in slow motion ads a slight challenge that makes the game more fun.
The new crafting system for weapons is amazing and I have found myself spending much time in the menu customizing my weapons that I found over the wasteland and trying to find the best balance of damage and weight, adding new scopes and new barrels, and now all the junk you find in the wasteland has value, adding a realistic feeling to the game. Furthermore, the new settlement building feature is engaging and great, but at times it becomes clunky and frustrating when you can’t connect two things together.
I love the music of the game and how it has a 50’s style, vibe, and I can often find myself humming the tune of “Atom Bomb Baby” or one of the many other songs of the in-game radio. The graphics are okay for a game of this size but often I can find the game drop frame rates, even going to 0 and freezing, but for a game of that size I can imagine not so great graphics.
Overall I give this game a solid 8, due to the chunkiness of some of the features and the low standards of graphics. But overall the game is fun to play and has something for everyone.
