Neshaminy High School’s Dance Team has recently announced their new advisors for the 2015-2016 season. Last year was filled with many exciting performances and charitable fundraisers for the team.
Last season the dancers fund raised a trip to Florida. They got a chance to perform at the Rusell Athletic Bowl Halftime and The Macy’s Parade at Universal Studios. Overall they sold 33 shirts and raised about $250 towards their trip.
The new advisors taking on the challenge of continuing the success of the Neshaminy High School dance team are Melisa Dyal and Kristinn McGee. “Our goal is for students to have a safe environment where they can learn all different types of dancing. We are hoping that all of the students who get involved will feel like they have a place where they belong here at NHS,” Dyal said.
During the auditions a series of warm up’s will be run so that the advisors can get to know the students basic sense of rhythm. The students will also be taught four counts of eight and asked to perform it in groups. No student will be cut from the auditions since the dance team is considered a club at Neshaminy High School. “I was a part of the dance team last year as a junior and I cannot wait to join again this year. It’s a great way to get involved at the high school,” senior Gia Ferrandino said.
A set agenda has not been decided upon, since the season has yet to begin. However, as soon as the dance team is created the students will begin to work on a performance for the powder puff game. The new advisors hope to make appearances at many sporting events here at the high school. Practices will be held in the hub, where the dancers will learn new dances or work on ones that have already been completed.
Everyone is welcome to join Neshaminy High Schools’ dance team. The new advisors are looking forward to a brand new and exciting year.
