On Sept. 29, the Neshaminy School board appointed assistant Superintendent, Gloria R. Hancock, to the position of acting Superintendent of the school district. Hancock will be the third Superintendent to serve Neshaminy this year.
According to a Levittown Now article by Tom Sofield published in November of last year, Hancock was promoted to assistant Superintendent in November of 2014 from her administrative position. Her contract as Superintendent will expire on Sept. 19, 2016 or when a new Superintendent is elected. She will return to her position as assistant Superintendent when a new Superintendent is elected.
After the school board president, Scott Congdon, led the board’s vote to promote Hancock, most all board members proceeded to congratulate her throughout the proceedings.
Hancock’s full contract will expire on June 30, 2018. The yearly salary of $144,547 that Hancock received as assistant Superintendent will maintain through her service as Superintendent, according to Congdon.
“Our School Board, Administrators, Teachers, Support Staff and Parents are committed to our mission to provide a sound education for our student population. Our mission statement simply stated is…The Neshaminy Community empowers students to become productive citizens and lifelong learners. Neshaminy – We Build Futures!” Hancock said in her Superintendent’s
welcome.
Previous acting Superintendent, David Baugh, left Neshaminy for a full, five-year contract at Centennial School District. Baugh received the position after elected Superintendent Robert Copeland resigned from the position this spring after receiving the position of Superintendent at Lower Merion School District.
