After working diligently over a period of three months, 168 students across various grade levels gathered in the Theodore Kloos Auditorium. On the mid-morning of April 25, those students who completed EverFi, a financial Literacy program hosted by the Finance and Investment classes, were honored.
The 2012-2013 school year is host to the trial of the EverFi program. A grant from the First National Bank of Newtown allowed for Business Teachers Anita Moore and Janet Dougherty to implements a hands-on experience in the realm of finance.
Inspiration speeches were given by the program’s sponsors, Daniel J. Schaffer of FNBN and EverFi Schools’ Manager, Andrew Porter. Each student was called across the stage to shake hands with the bank officials, as well as Assistant Principal Tom Magdelinskas.
“It was exciting to meet big wigs from the bank, and be honored for our in-class work. Being certified in Financial Literacy will look great on my resume, and definitely help me when I’m studying law in college,” senior Cydney Tanner said.
