All Three Neshaminy High School Publications Receive Silver Award from the PA School Press Assn.
Congratulations to the 2011-2012 editors, photographers and staff writers of Howler, The Playwickian and The Redskin for receiving the Pennsylvania School Press Association Silver Award.
The PSPA judge praised Howler literary magazine, “This is a great display of journalistic integrity and creative thought, especially for a first-time publication.” Last year, Chris DiCicco and Dan Luongo advised the literary magazine for the first time. Revitalizing the whole approach, the students renamed the magazine and presented a full-color edition.
The Playwickian newspaper staff, advised by veteran Tara Huber, was recognized for regularly looking beyond the campus for issues of concern to students. “You are fearless in taking on controversial issues in both news and editorial sections. Many stories are thoroughly researched with multiple sources and significant detail.”
The Redskin yearbook, under the guidance of Kristen Casile and first-time adviser Amanda Henry received the following positive feedback: “You obviously have a good photographer. I love the theme ’12 Reasons’ and how you split the sections within sections to equal the 12.”
This is the first year all three publications were submitted for evaluation.
