On Monday, September 24, there was a college workshop for all seniors held in the auditorium. The event was put together by the National Honor Society, including adviser Susan Wells and the officers, President Janice Joseph, Vice-President Jake Kramer, Secretary/Treasurer Kelly Larson and Historian Julia McGovern.
Admissions officers from colleges and universities around the area were in attendance. Represented were Lehigh University, the University of Hartford, the University of Delaware, Lafayette College, the College of New Jersey, Rider University, and Catholic University of America.
The affair began with a brief overview of the college application process, letter of recommendations, and transcripts by counselor Susan Fennecken.
Afterwards, videos about most of the schools present were shown. Once the short introductory period was over, the students were broken-up into small groups to meet with the admissions officers in a more intimate setting.
Each school had tables set-up with handouts, posters and plenty of information about their programs, colleges, etc. Students were invited to ask the admissions officers any and all questions they had about college. The main focus of the evening was about college essays, what to write about and how to write it.
“Overall the night was a great success. The admissions officers were nice enough to come out and lend their knowledge to help us with our college applications,” NHS president Janice Joseph said.
To end students were allowed to walk around to all the tables, talk to all the representatives, and find out about all of the schools in attendance.
