Starting this week, academic help will be offered after school in the library. English, math, social studies, life sciences and physical sciences assistance will be available Monday through Thursday from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. French help will only be available Monday and Tuesday, 2:30 to 4:00 p.m., and Spanish help will only be available Monday and Wednesday, 2:30 to 4:00 p.m.
“The new after school program will be a great tool for students that choose to utilize it,” math teacher Amy Wilkinson said.
As of now the system will work on a walk-in basis, no appointment is necessary; however, there will not be one-on-one tutoring. The staff will have to work with multiple students at a time.
According to the high school website, students should come prepared with all materials that they may need, as well as specific questions, and be willing to be “active participants/learners.”
Though the program ends at 4:00 p.m., the after school busses do not leave until 5:15 p.m. Students without transportation home will have to report to the main office lobby and wait for the 5:15 p.m. bus.
Students will not be able to use this time as general library or computer time, or to make up tests and quizzes.
If a student has a “legitimate commitment,” but still wants to participate in the after school program, they must arrive by 3:30 p.m. at the latest.
