With the Neshaminy High School (NHS) Junior Class Trip (JCT) quickly approaching, the excitement for the three-day-long trip is increasing. From Kings Dominion to Busch Gardens, NHS’s Junior Class will have their hands full with rides to enjoy. But which ones are worth daring?
1. Rapterra – Kings Dominion
A brand new 2025 addition to the park, Rapterra is the world’s longest and tallest launched wing coaster. Rapterra is just under 90 seconds long with a height of 145 feet at its highest point. The ride simulates the flight of a wild Jungle Hawk and starts with a zero to 65 miles per hour launch in just four seconds. Make sure to catch the new addition while you’re there!
2. Pantheon – Busch Gardens
Red sophomores 2023 weren’t the only ones to take on the gods; Pantheon, a record-breaking multi-launch coaster, also has its riders flying high. Pantheon was voted one of the world’s most anticipated coasters of 2022, with top speeds of 73 miles per hour and a 95-degree drop.
3. Griffon – Busch Gardens
Griffon, a first of its kind, a hanging coaster that will leave you just above its 90-degree drop while also catching a bird’s-eye view of the park, just before plummeting to the ground at 75 miles per hour. Soaring takes on a whole new definition when it comes to this experience.
4. Dominator – Kings Dominion
Take on the world’s longest floorless steel roller coaster, Dominator, which has a length of 4,210 feet and a total time of two minutes and six seconds. With a total of five inversions, Dominator is the ride for ultimate thrill chasers.
5. Pantherian – Kings Dominion
With a whopping 305-foot plunge for its first drop, Pantherian is one of the tallest, fastest, and thrilling coasters on the East Coast. Voted best new roller coaster of 2010, the Kings Dominion addition is still standing tall as ever and embracing every scream.
6. Tempesto – Busch Gardens
In this oval-shaped thrill chase, Tempesto takes its riders on a complete stomach-turning adventure. Even though Tempesto only stands at 154 feet tall, a series of conversions at the top will leave this short ride one for the books. Tempesto launches to 63 miles per hour with constant inversions to give every rider an unforgettable experience.
7. Alpengeist – Busch Gardens
For the floorless coaster enthusiasts, Alpengeist will hurl you through a total of six inversions at top speeds of 65 miles per hour. Named after the infamous snow beast, Alpengeist will make your stomach drop faster than the automatic floor.
8. Tumbili – Kings Dominion
As Virginia’s first 4D spin coaster, Tumbili isn’t for the weak stomach. The attraction gives its riders never-ending inversions to experience complete weightlessness for the entire ride. Standing at a total of 112 feet in height and 770 feet in length, Tumbili has no problem tumbling everyone’s mind.
9. DarKoaster – Busch Gardens
DarKoaster, North America’s first-ever all-indoor straddle coaster, speeds its riders on a 2,454-foot track through total darkness. With four accelerating launches, DarKoaster is the only one of its kind. A thrilling opportunity for the students attending JCT to cool down without taking a break from the thrill of the rides.
10. Apollo’s Chariot – Busch Gardens
With its hills reaching a combined height of 825 feet, Apollo’s Chariot will give its riders an absolute weightless experience. A track that goes a total of 4,882 feet and accelerates to 73 miles per hour, a not-so-thrilling but enjoyable ride, will be a nice break from the rest of the sick-inducing coasters.
