With the 2025 Formula One (F1) season on the horizon, here’s everything you need to know. Last season, Max Verstappen, the man who is now synonymous with racing and sport as a whole, claimed his fourth world championship, moving him up to a joint-third of all-time championship titles. His fourth in four years has set him up to become a legend, if he isn’t already, but can he do it again, and if not, then who? 

Lando Norris, who races out of the McLaren garage, is his most worthy rival. Last season, Norris picked up 374 points out of his races, with Verstappen tallying 437. But who will lift the championship? Covers.com has Norris’s winning odds set at +220, while Verstappen closely trails by +225. It is undeniably close, but Norris is favored to win his first-ever world championship.  The two will also be competing against each other in another competition: the Constructors Championship. 

The Constructors Championship is a fight between all 10 F1 teams, each with two drivers. Each team’s drivers will also rack up points for their teams, not just themselves. This season around, it will mostly be a three-way fight between McLaren, Red Bull, and Ferrari. Last season, the duo of Norris and Oscar Piastri were able to win it for them for the first time since 1998, before Norris and Piastri were even born. The 2025 Constructors will be one of the tightest in recent years, with each team in the running having a top-three driver from last season, Verstappen first, Norris second, and Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, respectively.

This year may be Ferrari’s year, with them gaining Lewis Hamilton, a veteran of the sport who joined them after one of the most successful careers with Mercedes, having earned himself a whopping seven world championships. Hamilton alluded to the monumental move on Instagram, “There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever, and today, my first day as a Ferrari driver is one of those days,” Hamilton said. “I’ve been lucky enough to have achieved things in my career I never thought possible, but part of me has always held on to that dream of racing in red. I couldn’t be happier to realize that dream today. Today we start a new era in the history of this iconic team, and I can’t wait to see what story we will write together.”

The start of the action will commence on Feb. 26-28, 2025, with testing before the first race, which will be in Australia on the weekend of March 14, 2025.
