LANGHORNE, PA – On Nov. 15, the Neshaminy High School (NHS) class office announced that they would be hosting its first-ever “Snowco” school-wide dance which would be held in Gym 3 on Jan. 10, 2025.
This news excited many students for it meant there would be something to look forward to during the long winter months after the holiday break. This excitement comes as a direct result of the beloved fall homecoming dance being canceled for the 24-25 school year due to co-curricular scheduling conflicts.
However, because this idea for a dance is still new, there is some confusion about how NHS will pull off the event in the freezing weather. Will it be as successful as the homecoming dance, formals, and proms we’ve all experienced before?
When asked about the apprehension circling the dance, 2026 class office member Jaxon Olszewski stated, “It will certainly be different, but all Neshaminy dances are a great way for students of all grades to come and enjoy a night together. A postponed dance is better than no dance at all.”
Snowco will bring positive energy to help students push through the barren months of January and February. It is also a way to introduce new surprises and themes for the students to look forward to.
This sudden announcement has left students with a question. Will this tradition carry into the following year?
“It’s hard to tell anything for sure, but we wanted to host this event to replace the beloved homecoming that students were missing,” Olszewski stated. “Next year, the plan is to have a Homecoming in October like in years past, but if this dance turns out successful, then who knows what the future holds.”
Will students enjoy this dance as much as they loved homecoming in years past? Will this start a new tradition at Neshaminy? Or will this be a one-time memory for us to cherish? Whatever the outcome, it is clear that the majority of students are looking forward to this new dance.
