Students! PSAT scores were recently released on Nov. 7, 2024, and can be found on the BigFuture School App. Neshaminy High School (NHS) hosted the PSAT on Oct. 26.
NHS Counseling Center’s Canvas page posted information about the results: “PSAT Scores were released on November 7th, so are now available. If you entered a cell phone number during the Digital Readiness Check, you should have received a text message about accessing your scores through the BigFuture school mobile app.” If students did not receive a text message, they can go down to the Guidance Office during the school day and get a paper copy of their score report. Once they’re signed in to the app, their scores should show up on the “For You” page along with the “Messages” page.
Now that they’ve gotten the results, what do these scores tell students? They give them a general idea of how they would do on the SAT. The overall range of scores on the PSAT is 320-1520. The test consists of two parts, math and English, which is how their score is broken down. Students can score between 160-760 on each section.
The College Board website, which is connected to the BigFuture School App, says that the average score is 920. It states that a score of 1210-1520 would put them in the top 10% of test takers.
While these scores do bear importance, it is a stepping stone to the SAT and there are many ways to improve scores for the next time they are taken. For sophomores, the test will be able to take the test again in the spring of 2025. If students registered before Nov. 22, there is a SAT test taking place Dec. 7. Students who didn’t register and still wish to partake in the SAT, can register to sit for the test in March of 2025.
If students are unhappy with the test results, there are many ways to improve for the next time they choose to take the test. Luckily, when they receive their scores, the results break down what areas the student excelled in and what parts they struggled with. This allows them to focus on what is needed to improve before the SAT.
The College Board website also has a designated page with different ways to practice for the test. This includes elements like a Skill Booster, a Question Bank Review, and the Khan Academy Review. There are so many other resources out there that students can use. Best of luck to every student finding out their scores!
