Super season, super stars

After earning four Suburban One League titles in a row, the Neshaminy field hockey team was eager and excited to improve and fix mistakes made in years past in order to have a successful 2022 season.
The team was led by senior captains Avery McGinty and Olivia Roscoe. With a 15-2-3 record, including post-season, the girls won the SOL title again for the 5th year in a row.
“I think that the team had a really strong relationship… we were really close,” sophomore Ava Arbakov said. “This made our connections instant from the beginning of the season. It was a matter of working on applying it fast enough and coming out strong that made us improve this year.”
The team relied on their strong relationships to help them succeed in their harder match-ups. They bonded by making fun team memories on the bus rides, at picnics, and in other team activities.
Throughout all of the fun and success, they still worked hard to overcome challenges together.
“Playing teams that have beaten us in the past by a lot and trying to come back out and beat them was a challenge we had to overcome together as a team,” sophomore Megan Gonzales said.
The team’s season, unfortunately, came to a close when they lost in the second game of the postseason 6-1 against Central Bucks West on October 27.
However, that loss did not reflect their season. They had a great season that will not be forgotten.
“Overall, there wasn’t much to complain about,” Arbakov said. “Our record was good. We only had three losses, and they were to teams that were ranked so much higher than we were… but we came out and beat them.”
The girls had many crucial wins that were important in building momentum for an amazing season.
“Beating Pennridge on their Senior Night felt pretty good because they thought they were going to smoke us,” Arbakov explained.
Congratulations on an amazing season!
