“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is Rowling’s newest addition to the popular series.

Recently, the eighth installment of the Harry Potter series was released. In February, author J.K. Rowling announced that the book would be released on July 31. The significance of this date is that it’s both Rowling’s and Harry Potter’s birthday. Fans of the series went crazy when Rowling announced there would be an eighth book since in 2007 she swore the series was done.

This book, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” is different from the other seven books because it is a script. The play debuted in London’s West End at the Palace Theatre. It was co-written by Jack Thorne and directed by Oliver and Tony award winner John Tiffany. There are two parts to the show and tickets cost between $20 and $93 per part. There are also premium tickets available a $126 per part. Some people are reselling tickets for more than $11,000.

As for the book, it starts off with the scene that the last book left off with. Nineteen years later, Harry, Hermione, and Ron are sending their kids off to Hogwarts. Harry now has three children, James, Albus, and Lily. His son James has already been to Hogwarts, but his other son Albus is starting his first year. As they get on the train, Albus meets a new friend—none other than Scorpius, the son of Harry’s old rival Draco Malfoy. When they get to school, everyone is shocked when Albus gets sorted into Slytherin along with Scorpius, because that is the house of dark magic.

Everyone is alarmed when Harry’s scar starts to hurt again since it hasn’t hurt in 19 years. The last time it hurt was when Voldemort was alive. The story goes on to tell how a real time-turner was found. The ministry supposedly destroyed all of them 19 years before. Albus and Scorpius steal that time turner in an effort to go back and save Cedric Diggory, who was killed in the Triwizard Tournament by Voldemort. They do this because their new friend Delphi is supposedly Cedric’s cousin. They end up finding out that Delphi is actually Voldemort’s daughter. It is then up to Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Draco to go back and save their kids from altering the past, which would change the future.
This book is just as amazing and captivating as the other seven. Hopefully, there will be more to come.
