Sean Penn, Joaquin Guzman: Good or bad?

In July, one of the most wanted drug lords in the world, Joaquin Guzman, escaped from federal prison. When police investigated the scene, they found a tunnel that stretched all the way to a construction site that was almost a mile away. It is believed that he had help from the prison guards, along with outside people. The tunnel, which he just stepped right into, was fully equipped with “lighting, ventilation, and even a motorcycle on rails that was probably used to transport digging material and cart the dirt out,” said the New York Times.

He’s been on the run ever since, and hasn’t been found. Not at least until October of 2015. Actor Sean Penn, went into the jungle of Mexico, and interviewed El Chapo for a heartwarming interview about his career and life. This gonzo article was published into Rolling Stone Magazine.

During this six hour interview, Penn asked questions about his job and what it’s like to be a wanted drug lord. “I supply more heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana than anybody else in the world. I have a fleet of Submarines, airplanes, trucks and boats,” proud drug lord, Guzman, said. Guzman, one of the richest men in Mexico, has sold millions of dollars in drugs, cocaine being the biggest, and has had thousands of people killed due to drug wars.

After escaping from jail, he went into hiding and he was not found for months. Then, one day, Sean Penn, an actor, found him and interviewed him. I think the big question that everyone is wondering is why, Penn, an actor, interviewed him for Rolling Stone Magazine. Also, how did he track him down? The Mexican and US government couldn’t even find him. Unless Penn is a secret agent that no one knows about, there’s no way he could have found him without being in contact with someone who already knew where El Chapo was.

Furthermore, many people believe that Penn should be arrested and thrown into jail. “Penn should be arrested and thrown into jail for harboring a fugitive,” senior Brittnee Hughes said. He hid the position of the most wanted drug lord, he wouldn’t tell anyone where he was, and he wrote a great gonzo article. Others believe that he was working with the Mexican government to track down the villain. But if the Mexican government already knew where he was, why did they need Sean Penn to interview him?
This debate could go on for days. The only people who truly know what happened and how it happened is Sean Penn and Guzman, but even they might not know the entire story.
