The boys indoor track team participated in two meets this past week: the Ed Poreda Invitation at Lawrenceville on Jan. 29 and another meet at Glenn Mills on Jan. 31.
At Lawrenceville, senior Dan Lentz narrowly missed winning a medal in the long jump. The top five finishers in each event win a medal but Lentz took sixth with a jump of 19 feet, 9.5 inches—a personal record.
Neshaminy had a much better showing at Glenn Mills, winning several medals. The 4 x 800 meter relay won gold and qualified for the Meet of Champions. The relay team consisted of seniors Anthony Murray, Eric Chapman, Ben Matzke, and David Marrington. Senior R.J. Boop also qualified for the Meet of Champions, taking fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.00 seconds.
Other medal winners at Glenn Mills include senior Brian Plunkett and freshman Rusty Kujdych. Plunkett finished fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:08.58. Kujdych, a very impressive freshman, completed the 3000 meter run in 9:44.10, winning a fourth place medal as well.
