Neshaminy High School graduate James Franklin has officially accepted the football head coaching position at Penn State University. After unconfirmed reports that he had done so on Friday, the former Neshaminy player was announced as the new Coach, and proceeded with a press conference.
Since coming to Happy Valley Franklin has had several meet and greets, gotten to work, attended a Penn State wrestling match, and even switched over two Vanderbilt commits to Penn State.
Franklin was previously coach at Vanderbilt University, where he led his team to three consecutive nine-win seasons, and the school’s first-ever football Top-25 ranking. Franklin was a successful quarterback at Neshaminy before moving on to play at East Stroudsburg, where he set multiple passing records.
Franklin was had various coaching positions at East Stroudsburg, Kutztown, and most recently Vanderbilt.
This move comes after former Penn State coach Bill O’Brien, Joe Paterno’s replacement , left for the Houston Texans NFL team.
