Homecoming is the biggest football game for Neshaminy students in the year. It draws in a unique crowd of students and alumni. It gives a chance for the clubs and other extra-curricular activities to present themselves to the school, and raise money by selling items at a booth.

This year’s Homecoming was another tremendous success. Harry E. Franks Stadium was painted with red presenting Neshaminy’s pride.

The Neshaminy football team, in their undeafeated season, had a successful win over the Truman Tigers’ with a closing score of 35-7.

“They’re a dangerous team and I think we handled their key players well. Homecoming is always an exciting game and I’m proud of how the team played,” head coach, Mark Schmidt said.

Neshaminy had a strong defense, but Truman was able to make one successful completion for a touchdown. Neshaminy held Truman scoreless for the remainder of the game.

A popular activity during homecoming is the various booths set up by the students of Neshaminy in different clubs. Ranging from Howler, the Literary Magazine to the Foreign Language Club, each booth sold different items or activities to raise money for the year’s activities.

The Foreign Language club sold nachos to raise money for upcoming trips to the Reading Terminal and United Nations.

“It was great being able to raise money to support the clubs at Neshaminy. It was a great spotlight for us to show what have to offer,” senior Kyle Taveira, member of the Foreign Language Club, said.

Each club had something unique to sell for their booth. Howler sold baked goods and the Art Club did face painting, utilizing their artistic abilities.

Half-time, one of the most exciting aspects of the game for everyone, is when the annual Homecoming King and Queen are announced. The past two years, each couple in the homecoming court received their own golf cart to decorate and drive on the field during half-time.

Each cart had a unique touch to it. This year the Class Officers of each class and Student Council got their own carts as well.

Prior to the announcement, Neshaminy hosted TruMark Financial Credit Union’s “Kiss a Pig” fundraiser. It is a campaign to raise money and encourage financial literacy. This year Rob McGee, the principal won and had the students roaring with laughter.

Homecoming king and queen Luke Carrezola and Bridget Brazil

This year’s Homecoming King and Queen were Luke Carrezola and Bridget Brazil. Luke Carrezola is Captain and tight end of the Varsity football team. Bridget Brazil is a cheerleader at Neshaminy.

“I think everyone had a good time, including myself. It was a great win for us and I was fortunate enough to win Homecoming King,” Carrezola said.

Homecoming brings out immense Neshaminy pride and this year was no exception. The efforts of the students, teachers, and athletes helped to make this year’s Homecoming a huge success and uphold the timeless Neshaminy tradition.
