A representative of Senator Mike Fitzpatrick expressed his gratitude. “I want you to think about who you will be joining, people who have fought the years before you,” he said.

The ceremony proceeded with the acknowledgement of those who will be taking part in the Marine Corps by Sgt. Thomas. All veteran-teachers were acknowledged as well. “I believe there were eight seniors committed last year, this year there are eighteen,” Principal Rob McGee said.

“I don’t think you understand the significance of what you’re doing. A year from now most kids will be recognized as college students. You will be recognized as a member of the United States military, and you will be treated as such. You will always be welcomed back without hall passes so long as you are wearing the uniform of our nation,” McGee said. “You’re not only growing our community, you’re growing our nation.”
