‘Walking Dead’ promises more action, excitement for fans

The last time we saw Rick, played by Andrew Lincoln, and the rest of the Alexandria crew, they were pushing their way past walkers in disguise, their bodies cloaked by the blood painted on their clothes. But thankfully, avoiding another cliffhanger for now, the comic series creator Robert Kirkman promised the show will pick up right where it left off, in the midst of all the action and trepidation of the season finale.

“We pick up right in that moment,” Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly. “Alexandria is overrun. Rick and the kids are all covered in guts trying to get through the crowd. Everyone is where we last saw them, and things get worse from there.”

There are also countless new characters from the comic book series that will make an appearance in the television show this season, including Jesus and Negan, who will be driving forces in the episodes to come. Paul ‘Jesus’ Monroe, a fan favorite from the comic books, will be portrayed by British actor Tom Payne, while Jeffrey Dean Morgan will bring the ferocious villain Negan to life.

When Morgan spoke to Entertainment Weekly in early January, he expressed the undeniable excitement he has for playing the nefarious Negan. “Negan is special in a lot of ways and the more kind of digging I do into Negan, the more excited I get. I can’t tell you the last time I’ve been this giddy about doing a role.” Morgan, known for his roles in television shows ‘Supernatural’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ will have to get his hands dirty in order to rightfully pull off the savage leader of ‘the Saviors’ from the Walking Dead comic books.

Many fans are beyond excited to see the villain brought to the small screen. “It is definitely going to be interesting to see Negan brought to life on the series. Although the governor was my favorite villain, I think Negan is going to be fun to watch,” Gabby Rodak, a senior and avid fan of the series, said.

In the new promotional video uploaded to “The Walking Dead” official website, entitled ‘The New World’, the second half of the season warns views that “The new world comes with a price”. Of course, something good is always followed by something bad—that’s just how the series is—and the bad side of finding shelter in Alexandria will be revealed on Valentine’s Day, when the series returns for the second half of the sixth season on AMC.
