Neshaminy Homecoming 2013

Football: a sport of utmost importance at Neshaminy. The Neshaminy football program is rich in history and tradition. Homecoming night is always an exciting and anticipated night for the student body, as well as parents and staff. In preparation for the big game and night, students and faculty here at the high school get involved in spirit week, and prepare booths with games and prizes. Fundraisers are always a big part of homecoming too, run by parents of the student body, as well as the boys who play.

“It’s sad that this was my last homecoming game, but it was exciting. I loved seeing and hearing all the students having fun and getting into the game, I love our fans.” Senior Captain and tight end, Luke Carrezola said. “We all did our job against Truman. We came out and set a tone on defense,” said Carrezola. “I approached the game like I always do, but this one was fun for everyone,” Carrezola said.

The drama department did everything they could to raise money from homecoming this year. “We sold candy and scripting donations at homecoming this year. As a self-sufficient club we raise our own money, for things such as roadies shows, drama shows and plus all of the lights and sound equipment that needs to be replaced,” Senior drama club member Thom Monaco said. “We also raised money for costumes and props, all on our own. No district financial help, just our hard earned fundraising money,” Monaco said. Watching the kids run around in costumes is quite entertaining every year, but it isn’t just for kicks. “The drama department doesn’t just dress up, but we also act as the characters we dress as! What better way to raise money and show our school spirit and showing what we do best?” “It’s bittersweet that it was my last homecoming, but I’m glad to celebrate my senior year,” Monaco said. The unique attribute about homecoming is that the entire school comes together in one night. “Overall I like the fact that it’s all the clubs coming together and raising money. It’s showing the best parts of Neshaminy, and what makes our school so special.”
