Neshaminy School District , not unlike many institutions of learning, has a dress code that is enforced amongst the elementary, middle school, and high school students alike. Teachers and administrators at each building of learning stress the importance of the students following the dress code that the Neshaminy School District has put into effect. Teachers and administrators voice the benefits of following the dress code that is set for the students such as allowing students to maintain focus on schoolwork, eliminate profanity and obscenity in the classroom, and avoid injuries caused by wardrobe malfunctions.

Teachers and administrators also warn students of the consequences of wearing clothing that infringe on the dress code at the school. Students may be asked to call their parents to bring them proper school attire or borrow clothes from the school to wear for the remaining duration of the school day. Teachers and administrators also caution students that numerous violations of the dress code can result in disciplinary actions.

Although the faculty members in the Neshaminy School District go to a great extent to stress the importance of the dress code and also to enforce the consequences of any violation of the dress code, the faculty members themselves do not always follow the dress code. “It is frustrating to be expected to follow a rule when those who are enforcing it do not follow the rule themselves,” Neshaminy student Paige Walsh said.

It is quite ironic for many students to receive a write up slip for wearing a tank top that is not the width of three fingers from a teacher who is wearing a tube top. The teachers and administrators throughout the district go to lengthy measures to enforce the dress code amongst the student population of Neshaminy School District but have trouble following the rules themselves.
