Neshaminy congratulates academic achievements of students

On Wed. May 7, the families of academically-gifted students gathered in the Theodore Kloos auditorium to be recognized of their placement in the top five percent of their graduating class. A total of 41 sophomores, 42 juniors and 40 seniors gathered to receive their awards as well as a sense of pride in their accomplishments.

Each senior was required to give a personal statement in a video that the school made stating the college they will be attending, their major and their greatest accomplishment in their time at the high school. Answers ranged from consistently staying in the top five percent to brining honor to their family.

“It is one of my personal goals to achieve in school. It is an honor because it represents all of my hard work paying off,” sophomore Christina Chen said.

The sophomores and juniors received coffee mugs in a gift bag as well as an award certificate stating official recognition of this milestone. The seniors received tin lunchboxes with accompanying coffee mugs as well. Each grade level took a class picture.

Refreshments were given out after the ceremony as well consisting of cookies and water.

“The top five percent is an elite group of people, just like any other fields have elites these students are some of the highest achieving that Neshaminy has to offer. Being part of this group enhances a student’s application to a college,” Rob McGee, principal of Neshaminy High School said.
