The Neshaminy High School Marching Band competed at their second cavalcade competition on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Owen J. Roberts High School. The band was the only one within its division that night, the Patriot Division, and therefore placed first within its division with a score of 84.45, an improvement from their previous score of 79.6.

The band performed their show, “Press Play,” despite the high chances of inclement weather. All other Patriot division marching bands canceled their performances. The band received an award for their auxiliary/percussion and earned the highest scored within all groups, regardless of division.

Other bands that performed that night were Coatesville High School’s Marching Band and Great Valley High School’s Marching Band in the Liberty division, Phoenixville High School’s Marching Band in the American division and Spring Ford High School’s Marching Band in Freedom division. Owen J Roberts Middle School and High School both performed that night, albeit the High School did not compete as they were the judges of the competition.

“Even though we were the only band in our division, we still gave it our all and definitely got better as a band.” clarinet section leader Sam Mamie said.

The marching band will be performing again on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Council Rock among many more local high school marching bands. The band is hoping to increase their score yet again as they begin to get deeper into their competition season.
