Bowling co-captain impresses league, will continue in college

Senior Kaeli McMaster, is one of the Co-Captains for the 2014-2015 Girls Bowling team and has one of the highest averages on the team.

Bowling has always been a familiar sport for McMaster. Her uncle and grandfather are both bowlers and when she was younger McMaster would watch them compete. By age 10 she was ready to take on the lanes herself.

“I wanted to be just like them” McMaster explained.
Once she gets to lanes everything becomes more serious. The main focus becomes preparing to compete well. “I get myself into a positive mind frame and think good thoughts. I think about having good results and a good day”, She said.

“The team has a great chance to make it all the way to states”, McMaster said. Last year she finished ninth in the state as an individual.

In addition to school competitions McMaster also sets time aside during the weekends to perfect her skills. She is an active participant in the Pennsylvania Junior Bowlers Tournament (PJBT) and also competed in the Junior Gold tournament, one the biggest national tournaments.

Although this is her last season playing under head coach Gale Donahue, McMaster plans to continue playing at Mount Aloysius College near Altoona, Pennsylvania. “I’m excited for the true competitive atmosphere in college”, she said.
