Writer David Kushner pays a visit to Neshaminy

On Jan. 15 2014 writer, award winning journalist, and adjunct professor David Kushner spoke with Neshaminy students. Discussing everything from how to succeed in journalism, interviews he has conducted and the journalistic process he goes through every day at Rolling Stone Magazine.

“Be original, dedicated and passionate,” Kushner said. Most recently Kushner interviewed Sigurdur “Siggi” Thordarson, the former WikiLeaks mole, and conducted the first feature story on Mark Zuckerberg when Zuckerberg was first starting up in Palo Alto, California.

“Very enjoyable program, my favorite part was when Kushner talked about persisting in journalism,” assistant principal Colin Trickel said. Kushner has written several books including Levittown: Two Families, One Tycoon, and the Fight for Civil Rights in America’s Legendary Suburb, Jacked: The Outlaw Story of Grand Theft Auto, and many more critically acclaimed books.

Kushner grew up in Florida and attended college at the University of Maryland. “I was passionate about what I was writing about, which is very important if you want to go into a career of journalism,” Kushner said.

A true professional, Kushner gave invaluable advice to various English students at Neshaminy. Enjoyed by students, teachers and administrators alike Kushner’s charming personality and relatable personality engaged everyone in the room.
